Hand surgeon Dr. Olarte brings passion for carpal tunnel, hand pain management to Florida Hand Center

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Florida Hand Center, which holds a prestigious medical reputation when it comes to treating hand pain including arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and tendonitis, is proud to welcome  hand surgeon Dr. Ivan G. Olarte to its practice.

Olarte comes to Florida Hand Center after receiving his subspecialty in hand and microsurgery from the University of Mississippi.

“We are  excited  to add a hand surgeon   like Dr. Olarte  to our practice,” said Dr. Stephen Helgemo, head of Florida Hand Center. ““All of our patients will benefit from having him join our team because it will allow us to treat our patients suffering from conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis and hand pain even more efficiently and effectively.”

Dr. Olarte received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Baylor University, in Texas and excelled in his studies. After receiving his doctorate from the Ponce School of Medicine, Dr. Olarte completed his General Surgery residency at St. John Medical Center in Detroit. Dr. Olarte proved so adept that he quickly rose to the level of Chief Resident.

Following his stint in Detroit, Dr. Olarte decided he wanted to specialize as a hand surgeon, a goal he achieved while at the University of Mississippi.

Outside of the hospital and the classroom, Dr. Olarte has presented at local and national surgery meetings. Currently, Dr. Olarte is a candidate member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and a member of the American Medical Association and The American College of Surgeons.

His professional interests lie in microsurgery, trauma, tendon repair, fingertip injuries, arthritis, hand pain, carpal tunnel syndrome and hand rejuvenation.

 Dr. Olarte and his wife are the proud parents of three daughters.
